Truth must be experienced/No belief required
‘There is nothing like first-hand evidence’
Sherlock Holmes
‘This is not a philosophy, a series of theories. It is exactly what philosophy means - the love of truth, the love of life…we are learning about the art of living our daily life’
Jiddu Krishnamurti
‘What right has a man to say he has a soul if he does not feel it, or that there is a God if he does not see Him? If there is a God we must see Him, if there is a soul we must perceive it; otherwise it is better not to believe.’
Swami Vivekananda
I consider myself religious, but religion only matters to me if I can realise the truth behind it, first-hand and directly, without needing belief or an authority. When we believe, we are really saying that we don’t know for sure. And religious truth must be certain for it to have any place in our lives. So onwards! Keep up the search for Truth, for that is true religion and true science. That is philosophy, the love of truth!
